Planning and Simulation Software for LITT.
FEM predictions of the bioheat transfer are used for
treatment planning of a hippocampus ablation to treat epilepsy.
A volume rendering of the pre-treatment planning is shown.
Critical structures and boundaries are segmented and used to generate
a volumetric hexahedral mesh. Multiple laser applicators are used to
deliver the desired thermal dose. A line profile (temperature vs distance )
is shown at the bottom. The ventricles if modeled as a heat sink for the
bioheat transfer.
